Water-colours I hear you say? Water-colours! The unsung hero of the traditional world of painting.
In what way can such a medium be contemporary or conceptual or documentary?
This is my exploration of watercolour in the context of territory and trace.
These are no ordinary water-colour paintings. These paintings are made with water from specific locations between London and Venice and carried from the point of collection for the remainder of the route.
The pigments and inks used are earth colours which are dripped as wet-on-wet water marks. Therefore the outcome of the painting has not been pre-determined but forms as a result of the territory water mark and pigments merging.
